An illustration is a broad term, and it is often used not only in illustrating children's books, picture books but also in the design itself, as a mascot, pictogram, better explanation of the descriptive text, poster design, backgrounds, etc. In the digital world, illustration takes a whole new form because It can be customized in an infinite number of ways, whether it is digital raster or vector illustrations themselves or those painted/drawn by hand and inserted into a computer. These two variants can also be combined so that only the sky is the limit when creating.

Ilustracija je širok pojam, a ona se često koristi ne samo u ilustriranju dječjih knjiga, slikovnica već i u samom dizajnu, kao maskota, piktogram, bolje pojašnjenje opisnog teksta, dizajnu plakata, pozadina i sl. U digitalnom svijetu ilustracija poprima sasvim novu formu jer ju je moguće prilagoditi na beskonačno mnogo načina, bilo da se radi o samim digitalnim rasterskim ili vektorskim ilustracijama ili onim slikanih/crtanih rukom pa ubačenim u računalo. Mogu se i kombinirati te dvije varijante, tako da je samo nebo granica prilikom kreiranja.
